About the Author
Danielle Rae Hall was born on the 7th of October, 1986. She is the eldest daughter of 3. Her late father was in the military, and her mother is a homemaker.
Danielle’s childhood was no stranger to challenges. Her family moved a lot, due to her father’s job. Every year or two it was a different home, new school, and settling into new routines. It felt like before they could fully and completely unpack, they were off on another move again. Her social anxiety and introverted nature also made it difficult for her to make and retain friends. She often credits these early challenges as being the very reason she fell so in love with books. Stories were a constant in her everchanging world. They brought her comfort when other aspects of her life weren’t so comfortable. Some of her earliest favorite authors were Bruce Coville, Hans Christian Andersen, Peggy Parish, and the ‘choose your own scare’ books by R.L. Stine. Reading with her mother is one of Danielle’s most cherished childhood memories.
As she got a little older, her love of books only grew. All throughout high school and college, Danielle took every literature and writing course she could. Many of her friends used to joke about how she practically lived among the library stacks. And still, even today, you can often find her with her nose in a book. Some of her current favorite authors are; J.R.R. Tolkien, Dean Koontz, Rena Barron, Jane Austen, Luvvie Ajayi, and James Patterson. To this day, Danielle maintains that the character, Samwise Gamgee, from "The Lord of the Rings" novels, is one of the most beautiful and selfless characters in literary existence.
It wasn't until a little later that she began to dabble with writing. She began with poetry, writing down her thoughts and feelings as she tried to make sense of the beautiful, chaotic years of early adulthood. Then she delved into writing short stories, mostly just for family and friends. It was never a goal of hers to publish ... until “The Red of Blood and Roses” serendipitously came along.
Danielle’s dark fantasy series was actually inspired by a reoccurring dream that she had, on and off, for years. The dream had long fascinated her. It was full of strange and ominous elements. One day, feeling the itch to write, she took various elements from that dream and used them as writing prompts. It started out as a simple way to pass the time – just some good writing practice. She never expected it to end up where it would. The more she wrote about these strange and fantastical things, the more immersed in it she became. It got to a point where she struggled to put the pen down. At work, hanging out with friends - the stories were always on her mind. She realized these ideas were turning into entire worlds, entire plots, entire characters. Before she knew it, her writing had somehow become a single epic tale that she knew was something truly special - something she had to share with the world.
Fast forward to now, 5 of the 6 novels in her series are already complete. A 7th spin off book is also in the works, taking place in the same universe. Danielle has fallen in love with publishing over the years. Her journey with writing has brought her more joy than she knew it could, and she plans to continue sharing her stories with the world. Although nothing official has been divulged yet, Danielle has said that she has writing plans beyond “The Red of Blood and Roses." She even says she is open to maybe exploring other genres someday.
Danielle lives in Canyon Lake, Texas, with her husband and their two dogs. They live a quiet life by the lake, occasionally exploring surrounding areas like New Braunfels and Gruene, to enjoy the unique shops, live music, and food.
